With the imminent launch of Steven Alan’s eyewear line this March, the designer showcased some of his autumnal styles at his fall/winter 2013 presentation at Lincoln Center during New York Fashion Week.
The inspiration this season was the 60s, with actress Francoise Hardy serving as a muse for Alan’s womenswear. The clothing mixed Hardy’s tomboy-chic style with All-American classics (think blazers and slouchy blouses in suede and velvet) and the eyewear followed suit, with this rounded, olive green pair in particular, capturing our attention.
As for men, Alan unveiled relaxed, mod-inspired looks, while the eyewear reflected a more modern aesthetic, with the grey-tinged glasses seen on the models referencing the designer’s own signature clear plastic frames.
Alan has long been know for his ability to hone in on casual staples with a refined sensibility (his reverse-seam shirts occupy a permanent spot in our closets) and he’s been able to translate this aesthetic into a number of accessories, including scarves, bags and jewelry. Though he’s collaborated with companies like Warby Parker, Alan had yet to launch his own line of eyewear, until now. If the reception to his NYFW presentation is any indication, he shouldn’t have any trouble finding an audience.
