Eyewear: Oliver Goldsmith
Daniel’s “Mistinguett” frames are from British eyewear maker Oliver Goldsmith and were first released in 1968. The frames have now been re-released as part of the “OG: ICONS” collection, which celebrates some of the most popular and iconic styles from the company’s more than 87 years in business.
Made from hand-crafted acetate, Daniel’s pair features a boxy, masculine shape that, at the time of release, introduced a more fashionable dimension to men’s eyewear. Glasses were no longer considered a handicap, but rather a statement accessory as important as a pocket square or tie. The wide arms (which narrow at the ends) and the dark tortoiseshell pattern (in some notes identified as “mushroom tea”) further added to the bold and unique look. It’s been said that actor Michael Caine was a fan of these frames. Decades later, Daniel looks just as cool and dapper.
