We’re always excited to check out J.Crew’s presentation at New York Fashion Week, if not for the clothing, then for the impeccably-dressed journalists and bloggers in attendance, many sporting some incarnation of creative director Jenna Lyons’ signature dark-rimmed glasses.
This season, there was plenty to see, not only in J.Crew’s bold and vibrant offerings (think smart, rich-hued staples for men, and textured skirts, printed sweaters and standout coats-worn-as-capes – another Lyons signature – for women), but also in the eyewear.
Though J.Crew has yet to launch an in-house eyewear collection, they’ve stocked favorites like the Ray-Ban Clubmaster and Persol 0649 for men in the the past couple of years. They’ve also collaborated with the charming Paris-to-New York shop Selima Optique on a number of frames for women and kids.
For the FW13 presentation, models accessorized with glasses on a number of looks. While the men wore Moscot, the women wore sunglasses from uptown Manhattan boutique A.R. Trapp, and Cutler and Gross. While the glasses were just for styling purposes, we loved how they worked with the new collection: they served to ground the menswear looks in a strong, masculine direction, while adding just the right touch of whimsy to the womenswear.
